Travel Grants
The Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology (APAO) is committed to promoting excellence in ophthalmology and supporting the professional development of ophthalmologists, researchers, residents, and trainees across the Asia-Pacific region. As part of its efforts to foster knowledge exchange and collaboration, the APAO is offering two types of Travel Grants for the highly anticipated APAO 2025 Congress, which will take place from April 3 – 6, 2025 in New Delhi, India.

APAO Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants
The APAO Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants support up to 10 selected candidates attending the APAO 2025 Congress. Successful applicants residing outside the host country of the event, India, will each receive US$1,000, while those who live in India will each receive US$300.
Eligibility

- Open to ophthalmologists in the Asia-Pacific region
- Priority is given to candidates aged 40 or below, from developing countries, and whose abstracts (free paper/ poster/ e-poster/ video/ instruction course) have been accepted by the APAO 2025 Scientific Program Committee
- Previous recipients of the Prof. Yasuo Tano Travel Grants (except recipients in 2024) are eligible to apply, though priority will be given to first-timers

APAO Young Ophthalmologists (YO) Travel Grants
The APAO Young Ophthalmologists (YO) Travel Grants support up to 5 residents in training or fellows in the Asia-Pacific region. Successful applicants residing outside the host country of the APAO 2025 Congress will each receive US$1,000, while those who live in India will each receive US$300.
Eligibility

- Young ophthalmologists, including residents, trainees, and fellow ophthalmologists aged below 40
- From a developing country in the Asia-Pacific region
- Have abstracts (free paper/ poster/ e-poster/ video/ instruction course) accepted by the APAO 2025 Scientific Program Committee
In addition to funding for travel, awardees of both types of Travel Grants will enjoy complimentary Congress Registration and an invitation to the Congress Cultural Party.
Application and Selection
Interested candidates should complete the online application via the APAO Scientific Portal. The application will close on September 15, 2024, at 23:59 (GMT+8).
(*Note to applicants from India: If you have submitted any abstract to the APAO 2025 Congress via the AIOS Scientific Portal, please use the same email address in your Travel Grant application.)
Each candidate may concurrently apply for both types of Travel Grants, but will be selected for only up to one.
Selection will be made by the APAO Travel Grants Committees. Successful candidates will be notified by December 2024. Those who do not hear back from APAO after that may consider their applications unsuccessful.
